Cancellation & Navigation Policy
At Botegena, we value transparency and want to ensure our clients understand the rules of navigation in Cartagena and how cancellations are handled.
Navigation Flags – DIMAR (Maritime Authority of Colombia)
The Capitanía de Puerto (DIMAR) uses a flag system to indicate sea conditions:
- Green Flag: Normal conditions, safe for navigation.
- Yellow Flag: Caution is required; restrictions may apply depending on the type of vessel.
- Red Flag: Navigation is suspended. Boats cannot leave the dock under any circumstances.
If a red flag is declared, you may choose between:
- Full refund, or
- Rescheduling your trip for another available date.
Cancellation Policy
- More than 7 days before your trip: Full refund minus transaction fees (equal to or greater than 4%).
- Within 7 days of your trip: 50% refund.
- On the day of the trip:
- If DIMAR declares a red flag, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
- If passengers arrive late, the boat will wait for you, but the return time will remain the same.
- If passengers do not show up at all, no refund applies.
- If DIMAR declares a red flag, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Tipping Policy
In Colombia, it is customary to tip for good service.
- We suggest a 10% tip as a standard guideline.
- Tips are not mandatory but are highly appreciated by the crew.
